After working for a number of Consulting Engineers, he joined SBM Offshore in 1992, where he has held various positions in Engineering and Operations. He is now Engineering Director of SBM Offshore's Monaco Execution Center managing t he activities of the Engineering Division.

He started his career with Brown & Root in 1977, and was running his own project management consulting company from 1987 to 1994. His experience also includes financing and public and government relations. 16.15	Process monitoring, control and safety with wireless Motivation and benefits Technology and standards Case studies from monitoring, control and safety applications Speaker: Stig Petersen, Reseach Scientist, Sintef ICT Mr. Stig Petersen has worked as a Research Scientist at the Department of Communication Systems at SINTEF ICT in Trondheim, Norway since 2002. His field of expertise is wireless communication, with special focus on wireless technologies for industrial applications. Lately his main research area has been wireless communication within the confines of the Oil & Gas Industry. From 2006 to 2009 he was part of a team working on wireless technology within the TAIL Integrated Operation collaborative research project between Statoil, ABB, IBM, SKF and Aker Solutions. He is currently the project manager of a large research project with Statoil, ABB, DNV, Kongsberg Maritime and SINTEF, investigating the use of wireless communication in process control applications.
